From a lifetime spent in rural and remote Australia, working across government, not-for-profit and private sectors, I know what it takes to address complex social issues through social impact initiatives in our regions.

    Bachelor of Business and a few teaching degrees. Training in trauma-informed practices, child development, collective impact and integrated ways of working.

    I'm good at joining the dots. I see how all the pieces fit together to either help or hinder your social impact efforts. I have a relentless focus on the actual experience of the people you're trying to help. If the support doesn't make sense in their day-to-day life, your initiative won't have the impact you want.

  • Country kid from way back

    I grew up on beef cattle properties in New South Wales. I went to a primary school with 16 kids total. I've lived the impacts of initiatives that either support regional communities to flourish or contribute to more hardship.

    I spent 15 years in the Northern Territory, working in remote and urban communities as a teacher, assistant principal, program manager, community volunteer, wife and mother.

  • Action-focussed

    I'm here to help you implement real solutions to real problems, so that every community is safe and thriving.

    Awareness-raising and academic research is important, and other people have that covered. I help you understand what the research actually means for taking action.

  • Community, not competition

    Build on what's there. Recognise community strengths. Understand what's already happening so that you don't inadvertently displace something that's already working, or that could work with the right support. Small communities don't always need "consumer choice" - we just need services that meet our needs.

  • Integrated thinking

    Especially in small communities, the small things are the big things. Every service, program, or venue is more than the sum of its parts. Understand what things mean to people, before you assume you know how to make it better.

With over 17 years working across remote and regional communities in the Northern Territory and New South Wales, I have a wealth of experience in initiatives for social impact. Here’s my specialist areas.

Child development

Understand how attachment theory, biological norms and children’s experiences can underpin program design so that children are physically, emotionally and psychologically safe.

Early childhood & primary education

Does your initiative involve education or early childhood education & care? I tell you what you need to know from a leader’s perspective, so your initiative truly supports children in the ways they need.

Perinatal support

Insight into the unique needs of families from pregnancy throughout the first year of baby’s life and beyond, including how to support the breastfeeding relationship, family violence prevention and gender equality.
