Banding Together

Women jamming, learning new instruments, creating songs and rocking out.

Feel the nerves and do it anyway.

Bring your sound-creation device of choice, no matter how dusty it is or rusty you are - all instruments welcome - whatever you play or used to play or want to play

A variety of human arms hold up a variety of musical instruments in black and white

What it’s all about

  • A safe, supportive, judgement-free zone for women to re-connect with our musical talents, overcome stage fright and just have fun making music.

  • Used to play the clarinet? Been strumming alone? Want to learn the drums? Really good at the triangle? Dust off that instrument and let’s make some music!

  • Any bandmate can suggest a song they love or bring something they’ve started writing, and we’ll work on it together with the aim of building a repertoire of jam-ready songs to share with the world

  • All instruments welcome from voice and the usual pop/rock culprits to traditional cultural instruments and the weird and whacky

  • What to bring: your instrument, iPad/phone to bring up chords and lyrics as needed, water bottle, an open mind, sheet music/chords/tab if you have it.

  • Banding Together is about women doing something for themselves. Babes in arms are always welcome. Most of the time kids will be welcome to come and play together in a nearby space, but they’re not invited to join in with us. The invite will let you know if there’s a space for kids or not, contact the host if in doubt.
